I've been trying to perfect our Cinnamon Raisin Bread using our whole wheat bread recipe, which can be found here. This is also the recipe I use for dinner rolls, hamburger/BBQ buns, and pizza crusts (although I omit the honey and add garlic powder and Italian seasoning for pizza crusts). For the Cinnamon Raisin Bread, I just spread out the dough and load it down with cinnamon, raisins, and chopped pecans before rolling it up and letting it rise.
Next, I would like to learn how to make sourdough bread! Does anyone have a good recipe?

I haven't tried it yet, but check out heavenly homemakers. She has a week long tutorial on how to make sourdough bread. Here is the link:

There is a lady in our community who makes absolutely heavenly sourdough bread, but she does use white flour. And although I have her recipe, I have never tried it myself.
How funny - I've just written a post where I refer to my cinnamon-raisin bread recipe, then I read a post by heavenly-homemakers that talks about her cinnamon bread recipe, and here you are talking about YOUR cinnamon-raisin bread recipe! Too funny.
Looks yummy!
Thanks, Mandy, for the link. I hope to look into that.
Abigail, I will try out this link so you don't have to hunt down your lady's recipe. Thanks anyway though-- you should try it out and bring it to church one Sunday!
Amber, Cinnamon Raisin Bread must be on a lot of peoples' minds lately. :)
Hope y'all have a lovely week!
Hi Meredith,

~Have a great evening!~
Thats looks yummy!
I make sourdough bread, but I have a starter that some friends gave me that works really good. I tried to make my own starter and it didn't work at all! But if you can find somebody with a starter, they can give you some of theirs.
Here is the recipe I use:
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 Tablespoons yeast
Dissolve yeast in warm water, then add:
1 cup starter
4 Tablespoons sugar
1 cup flour
Stir together and let "proof" for about 10-15 minutes.
Then add:
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 Tablespoon salt
and 4-5 cups flour until dough is soft and not too sticky.
Place dough in greased bowl and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size. Cut dough in 2 and form into french bread type loaves, but not as thin. I usually bake on a greased cookie sheet.
Let rise for another 30-45 minutes and then bake at 400F. for 20 minutes.
This bread makes really good french toast!
I have made with 1/2 whole wheat and it still turned out good.
If you have questions leave another comment and I can answer them!
