Finished Quilt!

Yesterday I finished one of the quilts I have been working on. I have the most wonderful feeling of accomplishment! I love creating things for my future home... (It is only a twin size quilt, and I have it on a full size bed, so that's why it looks kind of small!)

I went down to our little farm cottage (a.k.a. garage apartment~ we keep renaming the garage apartment since it sounds so boring) to take pictures of my quilts on the furniture there. With matching decorative pillows:In my future home, if there isn't a need for a twin size bed/quilt, I could always use it as a throw quilt over a couch. I thought it transformed this very old and ugly couch into a cute sitting area:
My great-grandmother made the following peach full size quilt for me when I was a little girl, but it is very faded now, so I thought possibly my new peach quilt (that I finished a couple months ago) would disguise the older quilt. I'm not sure how I like that look though. They seem to clash a little bit:I could always use the larger, old quilt folded neatly at the foot of a bed and use my new peach quilt elsewhere: Last of all is my first baby's quilt. I hope to monogram his/her initials in the very center:

I had so much fun "decorating" with my quilts! I can't wait to decorate my own little home one day.

your quilts are just gorgeous! I wish I had time to quilt. I have made other quilted/patchwork accessories, but never a full quilt. I'm too busy sewing other things like clothes etc! I think you did a fantastic job and you will have so much fun using them in your own home one day, Lord willing! :)

I love the blue quilt! The colors really look very beautiful together. I also like the peach quilt, as one of my favorite colors are peach. Kendal and I saved the pieces of fabric from when Mama would make us dresses, and we have each been working on a quilt. I have'nt made a lot of blocks yet, as I was waiting until my sewing skills improved, so I am going to tackle it again soon for my new hope chest. How old were you when you received your hope chest? Kendal and I were each thirteen.
I hope you have a blessed day, Kelsey

Oooooo, I love quilts! You inspire me to hurry up and finish the 3 I'm working on. :) Very pretty. I think quilts are some of the best home decor there is. :) That, and blue china dishes and big baskets and old books. :)

that's beautiful, Meredith! You did a wonderful job!
I made a quilt back in 2005... a full size quilt for the first thing I had ever sewn! :O It was a daunting task and I wasn't sure if I could do it, but I love the end results! It is the warmest blanket I have and I love it!
You have inspired me too, to go finish my apron that I have been wanting to make! I cut out most of the pattern... yeah that was as far as I got! I am scared to cut the fabric because I dont want to mess it up! :P

I was wondering about the pattern on the blue quilt. Is there actually a specific pattern, or did you make it up? It is so beautiful- I would love to do something similar some day!

Kelsey,

I got my hope chest for Christmas when I was 17. You and Kendal got a big head start since you both received yours when you were 13!

Sarah and Kendal,

I actually didn't even piece together the top (so of course I didn't use a pattern). I fell in love with the fabric and didn't want to cut it up so I just used the entire piece of fabric as the top, and then I just stitched in between each block to give it a pieced together look. It was very easy! :)

Thanks for answering! Wow, I never thought of that. I asked because I saw a very similar quilt in a country living magazine, and they didn't guve the pattern. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for some pretty fabric like that!!!

Have a good day,

Sarah
