I have been working on a fun little project over the past few days, which I have affectionately named my "Scrapbook of Homemaking Inspiration". When I often sift through magazines and catalogs, I usually tear out any pages that have decorating ideas, recipes, photos, cute outfits, etc. that I especially like and hope to emulate in some form or fashion in the future. Recently, I decided to take my disorganized collection of torn out magazine pages and create an organized folder of ideas.
On the front cover, I wrote out the most challenging passage of scripture regarding homemaking- Proverbs 31- and added my favorite picture.

I bought page protectors and dividers so the folder would be easy to reference in the future. I divided the folder into the following categories (below are a few of the pages):
Meal Planning...

Desserts (this is the largest section!)...

Bed & Bath, Kitchen & Dining...

Outdoor Dining & Gardening...

Clothing (I don't know that this could really be justified as having much to do with the art of homemaking, but the woman of Proverbs 31 did "dress in fine linen and purple" (31:22), so that will be my excuse!)...

Photo Album (various photos I have taken in homes)...
I look forward to browsing through more magazines now so I can add more creative ideas to my organized collection!

Meredith, This is such a brilliant idea. I made a book the year I was getting married and it had the same idea but yours is SO much better. I love how organized it is! You have EXCELLENT taste by the way :)
Hey Meredith! I love that idea! I made a notebook, sort of with the same idea for Rachel for Christmas. I like how you did different clips out of magazines, etc.

I love this idea Meredith! This is something I'd love to do and I thank you for getting me inspired. I think yours is lovely and will be a keepsake not only for your future home one day but something your children will enjoy looking at too :)
Blessings,

This is such a great idea!
My grandmother always gives me her old Country Living and Better Homes & Gardens magazines when she's done with them and I love to look through them and bookmark pages or tear them out. What a great way to keep track of all your home decorating and other ideas..I might just have to make my own someday!
What a great idea! A book of your own inspirations!
My mom does the same thing, I think that is so cool! Great idea Meredith.
By the way I LOVE your blog background, where did you get it?

I absolutely LOVE the dishes on that one page! Isn't old china the best? -Rachel
I love this, and I have the same thing--only mine isn't organized into sections yet and all mine aren't full pages. I've been collecting for about a year now. My favs are Martha Stewart, Real Simple and of course Better Homes and Gardens and Southern Living. I get freecycled magazines so I don't feel bad ripping them apart. LOL. Happy Homemaking!
Thanks everyone!
"Made 2 Praise",
My blog layout was done by Katie at Flibby Pie Designs. The link to her website is on my sidebar toward the bottom.
Have a great weekend!
What a great idea Meredith!
It looks so sweet. What a great keepsake!
Meredith,
Just received the monogrammed bag I won. It is beautiful!!! I love the colors; it will be perfect to use in so many ways.
Thanks again,
Lisa Q
I also start a book very much the same, 10 years ago, just a lot less organized. It was a great joy to me and still is as I plan for things I can not yet do. I love how you put yours together so beautifully!
Hey Meredith!
I love that idea! I have started a notebook of different things that I like out of Better Homes and Gardens and Country Living, but yours is over the top! I would love to make one like yours! I like how you did different clips out of the magazines, etc.
Love In Christ,
Emily
Oh, I started a hope chest! :)
I have definitely thought of doing this, but currently I just take mental notes when looking through magazines, mainly because I read them before Mom gets to, so I have to save them intact for her. ;)
I know you are looking forward to using all these ideas to beautify your own home one day! Thanks for the inspiration.
