I seasoned the homemade chicken broth with salt, pepper, and onion powder before adding the shredded chicken and bringing the soup to a simmer. Next, I added the dumplings by the spoonful, which I made by combining the following ingredients:
3 cups flour
2 T baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups milk
6 T vegetable oil The dumplings were ready after being brought to a boil and then simmering for about 20 minutes. It had been a long time since we'd enjoyed chicken and dumplings, so it was a big hit! For this week's other meals, visit the following links:

Mmmmm this sounds delicious Meredith! I have been so inspired by your meal challenge and all the different recipes that you and everyone has posted. I can't believe next week is the final one! I can't wait to hear about what you are cooking Stephen in the next months!
Love you girlie! :)
That sounds so good. My grandma made dumplings with lard. I can't imagine cooking with that now in the age of watching what we eat. That's such a nice cold weather dinner.
I hope your wedding preparations are at a point you can take a breath now and again. Remember to take care of yourself first during these last weeks. You don't want to get sick.
I am really enjoying your blog. It's very uplifting and helps keep me focus. Thank you! :)
I love your profile picture - the old fashioned one of you and Stephen!!
Beautiful!!!
You have been such an encouragement to me through your blog and the way you are with your family and fiancée.
You have also given me many new and exciting ideas for my wedding - when that day comes!!
lots of love and blessings from a sister in Christ - I pray we can meet in this life!!
Sarah
Lard is a really good natural fat, if you can get the stuff that's not hydrogenated. I make my own from pork fat I buy at the farmers market. Also Spectrum makes a natural shortening that doesn't contain the nasty transfats that are in Crisco.
Not sure whether this will do for your next meal challenge as it isn't new to us but only made once a year. Thought you might enjoy a traditional English Christmas pudding recipe anyway even if you decide it isn't suitable for the challenge.

Do hope your preparations are going well-you must be very busy.
Hi Meredith,
Just a quick note to let you know that I didn't have a chance to try a new meal for week 10, but I do plan on making something tomorrow or Tuesday:)
I'll let you know when I post it!
Blessings,
Jenna
