Several years ago, when visiting our friends, the Girottis, at their lovely home in the Shenandoah Valley, we were invited to sign their family's guest book. For years they had been collecting their guests' notes, signatures, addresses, and occasional photos in a guest book in their family room. I immediately fell in love with their idea and made a note in my journal that, should it be the Lord's will for me to one day marry, I would definitely want a similar guest book in my own home!

When I was searching for the wedding guest book for our friends and family to sign as they enter the church prior to the ceremony, I remembered this idea from years ago and decided to incorporate my wedding guest book into my future home's guest book. I wanted a guest book in a traditional style that would suit our needs at the wedding as well as in our future homes. I also wanted something that I knew would be available many years from now in a similar style so I could add to the guest book collection when the first book was filled.
After searching online, I decided to purchase a beautiful guest book from Crane & Co. I think it will be so much fun to look through this book many years from now and recall those who shared in our joyous wedding day as well as reminisce about the opportunities we had to welcome others into our home throughout the years.

Our friends own a condo in a resort area and they are on their 5th guest book. People leave notes about their stay and what they did. it's a nice touch and they get to know the people who rented their condo.
Sounds like a good idea for you.
i need to write that down! that is a great idea!
We were given a guest book as a wedding present, 21 years ago. That book is now full and we've started another. We all love looking back through the book-there are plenty of people who have been here as single people and then married and returned with their husband/wife and sometimes children. Great to track these new families too.
When we lived in Glasgow - for the first 12 years of our marriage - we had a guest book. We still love to browse through it, and many times, we see names and comments from people we'd forgotten we'd had visiting. It brings back wonderful memories every time!
It's a fantastic idea.
(We don't have one now - it's just not an 'island' thing to do - folks would find it odd! - but we do miss that we don't have one)
I'd thoroughly recommend this idea of yours. You will not regret it.
Love, Anne x
I have our wedding guest book in our bedroom, in my nightstand. I love looking at some of the notes our guest left, espcially the one from another couple that said "We love you!!" is big loopy letters :-)
What a good idea! Also, the book is lovely. :D
Your little sister in Christ,

This is a lovely idea, Meredith! We used our wedding guest book again at our housewarming and will use it again hopefully at a baby shower :-) and anniversaries or other celebrations until it is filled.
I love all your ideas- what we did for our guest book is purchase a hardcover photography book of Ansel Adam's work. We were married in an apple orchard, so his nature photographs really fit in. Guests used the white space around the photos to write messages. It has and always been in our bookcase as a reminder of our wonderful day!
I love this idea!! It is so neat to look back on things like this! One of our friends and also my aunt and uncle have a guest book in their home! :)
I love that. My Nana has had a guest book in her home for years for all her guests to sign. We always sign it and leave her a little note of love when we come to visit. She still has a guest book that is over 27 years old, that my daddy signed when he was alive, when he and my mom visited after they were first married!
Hi Meredith, I'm reading your post in a condo in Florida and wanted to leave a comment and say how wonderful that you remembered our guest book! I love our two guest books!! Sometimes I've found that it seems awkward to take guests' pictures and ask them to write something when they're getting up and preparing to leave after a nice meal. So I tell them earlier in the evening, "Don't forget to leave time to write in our guest book!" It seems to help that they know about it upfront. I hope you fill your guest book(s) with many wonderful memories of friends! ~ Mrs G
We have a guest book in our home and really enjoy going back and seeing the funny comments people write and remembering the occasions. My parents have always had a guest book so it dates back to when we were children (they were married in '77) and it is FASCINATING to see who visited around the time we were each born and other big events etc. It's a brilliant idea for good memories (and sad ones too sometimes, like the comments we got when my mother went Home to be with the Lord). Just make sure you keep it somewhere easily locatable so you don't forget to get the guests to write in it (that's experience speaking!!) :)
That's such a wonderful idea. It would be lovely to one day look back on the sweet messages friends had left us. Thanks. :)
